Introduction

Comet’s SMD-1100 Metering Unit is a screw-type volumetric feeder for precise at-the-throat metering of color concentrate and regrind plastic material. It was developed especially for injection molding machines, but can also be used with extruder machines by simply flipping a switch on the printed circuit board.

The SMD-1100 comes with a step-motor. The auger units can be easily mounted and fastened to the casting using two (2) quick disconnect clips. The electrical control includes a digital readout and setting for the metering screw.

The SMD-1100 consist of three main parts: the transition piece, metering housing with stainless steel material hopper, and control. The top and bottom ranges of the transition piece are not drilled, allowing you to match the bolt hole pattern to the feed throat of the molding or extrusion machine.
